Food has always been a universal medium for expressing fellowship across cultures and time. This makes the kitchen a fundamental household section across households around the globe. That's why when it comes to designing your kitchen, lighting should be a priority.

Here are some tips:

1. Consider the flow

Whether your kitchen is a tiny nook for occasional cocktails or the main venue of family get together, you need to take your kitchen's daily function into consideration. This includes potential flow of traffic, which parts will be most or least often used, and if it will be used mostly in the daytime or evening.

2. Light it up for the task

Task lighting is perhaps the most important consideration. After all, a kitchen is a workplace, so the end goal of your lighting plan should be to make cooking an easier and more pleasant experience.

3. Good mood. Good food.

A well-lit kitchen is nothing if nobody wants to spend time in it. So, make your kitchen more pleasant and inviting by providing ambient lighting.

4. Garnish with accents

As with any appetizing dish, your kitchen is a showcase. So add a sprinkling of accent lighting to highlight any decorations or displays. At the very least, you'll have something to talk about while waiting for the kitchen timer to go off.
